New Leadership Elections Announced by Libertarian Party of Marion County

Indianapolis – December 5th, 2016 – The Libertarian Party of Marion County has announced the dates of their upcoming officer elections.  According to Chris Mayo, the current chair of the LPMC, the party will meet on Monday, January 16th, 2017 to elect the offices of Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and two at-large representatives.  The meeting will be held at the Antelope Club, 615 N. Delaware St. and will convene at 7:00 pm.

Mayo expressed excitement over the recent surge of attention to the Libertarian Party, noting the great strides they have made in recent years. “Membership is up, the treasury is up and, most importantly, votes are up.  We want to keep that momentum going by continuing to bring new people and new ideas on board.”

Jason Sipe, the LPMC’s former chair and current vice-chair, echoed Mayo’s spirit about the attention the LP has been receiving, saying that many of the seasoned board members are, “excited to see a wave of new people involved in the party.  They not only invigorate us all through their youthful energy,” he continued, “they bring new ideas and methods for expanding the message of Liberty.”

With no elections being held in 2017, it could prove to be a challenging year to maintain enthusiasm in a political party.  Mayo, though, anticipates no such difficulty with the LPMC, stating that, “2017 is the perfect time to bring in some new energy, capitalize on recent gains, and maintain the vitality of the organization in preparation for the 2018 elections.”  He continued looking to the future, saying that both 2018 and 2019 give the party, “a lot of opportunities for growth and victory in Marion County, and 2017 is the perfect time to start preparing for new successes.”

Mayo concluded by speaking about the personal growth that can come from such a leadership position. “Being on the executive committee has been a great learning opportunity for me.  The experiences gained,” he said, “have not only helped me further understand the political landscape and inner workings, but have proven useful in my personal and professional lives as well.”

Everyone interested in learning more about the Libertarian Party, whether or not they will be seeking an office, were encouraged by Mayo to plan on attending the January elections.  There will be a social hour before the meeting during which newcomers can meet the membership and find out how they can help make an impact.
